Cosmos rises from death!

This was a total sucker punch for the visitors, who had controlled most of the game.

VANDERBIJLPARK.- Jomo Cosmos pulled off a “Great Escape” on Saturday, rising from the dead to beat TUT FC 3-2 in a breathless ABC Motsepe League clash at Isak Steyl Stadium in Vanderbijlpark.

For much of the afternoon, the home side looked dead and buried. TUT FC raced into a commanding 2-0 lead, leaving the Cosmos silent and many in the stands convinced the game was over. With the visitors looking certain to walk away with all three points, Ezenkosi suddenly found their spark.

The “never-say-die” spirit that the club is famous for took over just as TUT FC began to look comfortable.

The tension shifted when Cosmos pulled one back to make it 2-1. Panic buttons were pressed on the TUT bench as the momentum swung wildly. Shortly after, the unthinkable happened: Cosmos found an equaliser to level the score at 2-2.

While most fans were convinced the game would end in a draw, Cosmos delivered the final blow. A winning goal shattered the hearts of TUT FC fans, with the final score 3-2.

This was a total sucker punch for the visitors, who had controlled most of the game.

Cosmos coach/boss Jomo Sono was stunned. This vital win sees Cosmos climb to 11th on the league table, with 24 points. They will look to carry this momentum into next Saturday’s away fixture against Tembisa Hollywood Thunder.

WORD FROM COACH: “We played well, but our biggest downfall is scoring, and today was the same story. We conceded soft goals today and had to chase the game. I’m proud of the boys for showing character and winning the game.”
