SHARPEVILLE.- The Ahmed Kathrada Foundation visited Sharpeville on Sunday in remembrance of the 69 people killed during the 1960 Sharpeville Massacre.
The Ahmed Kathrada Foundation is an activist-driven, non-partisan civil society formation, informed by Ahmed Kathrada’s activist, anti-colonial, and anti-racist perspectives.

The Foundation aims to advance non-racialism through a set of programmes designed to achieve this vision.
Established in 2008, the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation was created to uphold and promote the values embodied by Ahmed Kathrada and his generation of anti-apartheid activists. As an independent and non-partisan organisation, the Foundation is dedicated to advancing the principles of justice, equality, and non-racialism.
On Sunday, the Foundation members visited the Sharpeville Human Rights Precinct and the Phelindaba Cemetery where they gathered at the graves of those who lost their lives. The programme included reflections on the history and meaning of Sharpeville, as well as a documentary screening and discussion on the continued struggle against racism in South Africa.
