Police in Kliprivier have launched an investigation after the body of an unidentified man was discovered along a riverbank last week.

Officers responded to a report of a body lying next to the river at Plot 68 Nelson Road in Garthdale on May 19.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Tintswalo Ndhambi said that upon arrival, officers found the body of an unknown Black man, who is estimated to be between 30 and 40 years old.

The circumstances surrounding the man’s death remain unknown at this stage. The body has been taken to the Sebokeng Mortuary.

Local police are appealing to the public for help, urging anyone with information that could assist in identifying the man to contact Detective Sergeant Botes on 076 698 4692.
