Oprah Winfrey school to be handed over to GDE

SEDIBENG.- The Gauteng Department of Education has announced that following the completion of the 2027 academic year, the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls, based in Henly-on-Klip, Meyerton, will officially transition to the department.

This, the department said, is in line with the original partnership agreement.

“We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Ms Oprah Winfrey for her remarkable 20-year commitment to transforming the lives of South Africa’s young women through quality education, leadership development and opportunity.”

The department said that it remains committed to preserving and building on the academy’s legacy of excellence, ensuring that future generations continue to benefit from its vision and impact.
