UDWOSA members marches to De Deur Police Station
After two weeks, her decomposed body was allegedly discovered in an outside toilet at her employer’s home.
SEDIBENG.- United Domestic Workers of South Africa (UDWOSA) marched to the De Deur Police Station on August 29.
The members, who came from as far as Mpumalanga, Tshwane and Gauteng, came to submit their memorandum, demanding action in a case of a domestic worker who died under mysterious circumstances in Roshnee in 2024.
It is said that Dikeledi Dlamini went to work in Roshnee, where she was a domestic worker, but never returned home. After two weeks, her decomposed body was allegedly discovered in an outside toilet at her employer’s home.
No arrest has been made since, and UDWOSA allege that there are no new developments on the matter.
UDWOSA founder Pinky Mashiane, who was in attendance on Saturday, said that they want justice for the deceased. “Domestic workers are humans and have all rights humans have. She was a mother, a sister, and a wife.”
As she handed over the memorandum to the De Deur Police Station’s senior management, Mashiane demanded that they be given feedback on the case within 17 working days.
