SEBOKENG. – SEBOKENG. – Three suspects aged 19, 22 and 51 have been arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition following an intelligence-driven tactical operation by the Sedibeng Tactical Response Team and Crime Intelligence on September 28. The arrests took place in Zones 11, 12 and 14.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane said officers went to the identified premises after receiving a tip-off.

“The occupants of the premises granted permission for the premises to be searched after police explained the purpose of the operation. The search resulted in the recovery of two 9mm pistols, two magazines and live ammunition.”

The seized firearms and ammunition will now undergo forensic testing to check if they were used in other crimes. The Sedibeng District Commissioner, Major General Nkhensani Mukwevho, praised the team for their collaboration and commitment.

“The recovery of unlicensed firearms and ammunition remains a priority in our efforts to prevent violent crime and protect communities. I commend our members for acting on information, conducting thorough investigations, and ensuring the eradication of illegal firearms from our streets. We encourage community members to continue sharing information with the police, as community cooperation remains essential in the fight against crime,” she said.
