SEDIBENG.-  The race for the SAFA Sedibeng Hollywoodbets Men’s Regional League title has taken an exciting turn following this past weekend’s results.

Ben 10 FC now sit at the summit of the log, tied on 45 points with Boipatong FC, but leading thanks to goal difference. Crucially, Ben 10 FC holds a game in hand, having played only 18 matches compared to Boipatong’s 19.

Ben 10 FC secured its spot at the top with a dominant 4-0 victory over Moponisi United at the Qetilizwe ground in Evaton North. Boipatong FC dropped to second place after being held to a 1-1 draw by Metro Stars FC at the Boipatong Stadium on Sunday. It seems to be a three-horse race with Perfect Academy third on the log with 42 points, but with two games in hand after 17 games.

Much was said and written about Perfect Academy at the start of the season; they are currently in third place.

Despite being pre-season favourites, their recent shock defeats against Cheeky Boys Institute and Boipatong FC were a big blow to their league title ambitions.

Sitting in fourth place, Metro Stars FC cannot be completely ruled out of the title race as they stand a good chance to challenge those at the top. They are a team to watch despite their recent 1-1 draw against Boipatong FC. At one stage, it seemed they were out of the race, especially after their heavy defeat against Moponisi United.
