Young Pirates ends the season with a heavy defeat

"They quickly proved that they belonged in the second division and were even seen as strong title contenders, climbing as high as third place on the log."

MEYERTON.- Young Pirates FC ended their first season in the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League with a 4-1 loss away to Tshwane South College FC on Saturday.

Despite the heavy defeat in their final match of the 2025/2026 season, the team finished a respectable 10th on the league table with 46 points from 34 games.

The Meyerton-based side started the season like a house on fire after earning promotion through the play-offs. They quickly proved that they belonged in the second division and were even seen as strong title contenders, climbing as high as third place on the log.

At that stage, they were competing alongside top teams like Free Agents FC, Dinoko City FC, and La Masia, who were crowned champions over the weekend. Although their impressive early form eventually slowed, finishing 10th is still a positive result, especially considering that several established teams will be relegated to lower divisions.
