‘Kasi- to-Kasi’ endurance run defies rain
"While heavy rains disrupted logistics, including the washing away of route markings in several areas, participants remained undeterred."
SEBOKENG.- Despite persistent rainfall that threatened to derail proceedings, Sukuma Lutsha Developments, in collaboration with BK Lifestyle, successfully hosted the Kasi-to-Kasi Endurance Run, demonstrating resilience, community spirit and an unwavering commitment to promoting fitness across local townships recently.
The endurance route covered key areas within Sebokeng, including Zone 10, Zone 13, Zone 14 and Zone 17.
The event, which combined both endurance running and aerobics sessions, saw active participation from community members who braved adverse weather conditions. Gym instructors led high-energy aerobics activities, ensuring participants remained engaged and physically active throughout the programme.

“While heavy rains disrupted logistics, including the washing away of route markings in several areas, participants remained undeterred. Driven by passion and a shared commitment to wellness, runners navigated through challenging conditions, embodying the event’s core ethos of perseverance and unity,” said Sukuma Lutsha’s Luthando Bottoman.
“Sukuma Lutsha realised that many residents in these communities have limited exposure to structured fitness programmes. In response, Sukuma Lutsha Developments has adopted a proactive approach, bringing fitness initiatives directly into communities. The mission is to confront communities with accessible fitness programmes, We engage people within their comfort zones and introduce consistent physical activities until healthy living becomes part of their lifestyle.”
Bottoman said that the organisation’s broader social intervention strategy, includes targeting high-risk areas such as drug hotspots, liquor outlets and schools.
“Support from BKLifestyle played a critical role in the event’s success, with the organization providing water during activities and meals post-event. Community leader, Themba Mnisi-Vutha also participated, commending Sukuma Lutsha Developments for its impactful work and commitment to youth empowerment. The turnout and engagement reaffirm that Kasi-To-Kasi endurance runs are more than just events, they are catalysts for change,” the organizers stated. “This initiative is paving the way for a healthier, more active generation.”
Sukuma Lutsha Developments continues to position itself as a key driver of youth development and community wellness in the Vaal region, with a focused mandate to support vulnerable youth affected by substance abuse and social challenges.
