Boipatong wonderboy’s ready to rumble in the ring

“He told me that he believes in me and I must also believe in myself."

SEDIBENG.- Undefeated young boxer Tshepang Tala is ready for his next bout against Lubabalo Lusizi. The 22-year-old Wonderboy Boxing Club star will face Lusizi in a four-round junior flyweight fight at the Studio offices in Johannesburg on August 2.

This will be Tala’s fourth fight of the year, and he told Sedibeng Ster Sport that he feels prepared for his opponent. Although he admits he knows very little about Lusizi, Tala insists that it does not bother him because he is focusing on his own strengths.

In preparation for the upcoming clash, Tala has been training hard and sparring with South African boxing legend Bongani Mahlangu. Tala explained that working with Mahlangu, whom he considers a role model, has greatly improved his skills. He added that many young boxers at the club look up to Mahlangu because of the immense experience he brings to the gym, noting how lucky they are to have someone who has been there and done it all.

Mahlangu is highly confident that Tala will come out victorious. He stated that he is happy with the young boxer’s overall performance but noted that Tala needs to work on his movement and speed. Mahlangu also praised the fighter’s coach, Sandile Mahlangu, for pushing him very hard in training.

He said that Tala is responding well during their sparring sessions and has no doubt that he will bring a win home. Tala credited his coach’s winning mentality for his confidence, stating that Sandile Mahlangu will not accept anything less than a victory.

“He told me that he believes in me and I must also believe in myself. As much as I know little about my opponent, I’m not worried because I will focus on my strength,” said Tala.
