Gauteng Department of Sports donates vital sports equipment and attire to local clubs
" We want to see more athletes from Sedibeng represent us at the provincial level."
VEREENIGING.- Local sports clubs and leagues received a major boost last week when the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, through the South Corridor Club Development, donated a range of new equipment and attire.
The official handover ceremony was held at President Park on October 2 to improve league systems and training performance.

Several local bodies attended the event, including the Sedibeng Netball Federation, Sedibeng Basketball, Sedibeng Chess, Sedibeng Volleyball, Valke Development, and Athletics Vaal Triangle. The Sedibeng Sports Federation Chairperson, Xolani Mathumba, accepted the donation on behalf of the federations.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Mathumba highlighted that the equipment arrived at a crucial time when local clubs and leagues needed support the most. He urged all recipient federations to use the resources effectively to develop players throughout the region.
I have no doubt this equipment will help our leagues, clubs and federations in the future.
Expressing his gratitude to the department, Mathumba said that the new gear will greatly benefit regional sports development.
“I want to take this opportunity to thank the Gauteng Department of Sport and Recreation for this donation. I have no doubt this equipment will help our leagues, clubs and federations in the future. We want to see more athletes from Sedibeng represent us at the provincial level, national and international stage,” concluded Mathumba.
