Tragic end to swimming pool accident

Sadly, the child has died in a Port Shepstone hospital.

A GIRL (12) is fighting for her life in a Port Shepstone hospital after nearly drowning at a holiday venue in Margate last Saturday afternoon. Chris Botha from Netcare 911 said reports from the scene indicate that bystanders found the unresponsive child floating in the swimming pool. They pulled her from the water and immediately started CPR.

“Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and started advanced life support resuscitation and placed her on a ventilator,” he said. “After about 40 minutes, they managed to get the child’s heartbeat back and took her to hospital.”
