Sheppie Lions roar with pride

The formalities were followed by a very enjoyable country and western party.

FOUR delegates from Port Shepstone Lions Club attended the 2013 Lions District 410C mid-year conference at Sierra Ranch outside Mooi River last weekend.

The conference itself took place on the Saturday and was officially opened by past district governer Denis Meyer. He encouraged all Lions to reassess their attitude towards Lionism and service to their communities.

During the prize-giving ceremony for the 2012/2013 District Contests, Lion President Andre Beneke proudly accepted two district awards on behalf of the club. These were the Ian Murray Project Public Relations Award (for outstanding press coverage of the 2012 Lions Show) and the Information Technology Award for the club’s official website, the Lions Show website, the club’s very active facebook pages, and efficient lines of communication at all levels.

Denis Meyer was also presented with the 2012/2013 Club Bulletin Award (multiple pages) in recognition of the club’s very popular monthly newsletter, the Sheppie Pride, which is widely read by Lions and supporters throughout the country and even abroad.

The club was also presented with an additional award for being 100 percent contributor towards the district’s ‘Louis Halse’ Humanitarian Fund. The formalities were followed by a very enjoyable country and western party.
