Carishma walks for water awareness

She described the walk as 'an epic adventure'.

CELEBRITY personality and actress Carishma Basday, formerly from Port Shepstone, has recently walked a total of 85km following water sources in Cape Town for the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) South Africa’s new campaign called the Journey of Water.

Carishma said the walk was an epic adventure and a really good cause to highlight the real journey that this precious life source takes to reach our taps in the urban centres.

Carishma walked from the water source areas above the Berg River dam, through wetlands and past sewerage works, all the way to the underground ‘grachts’ in the centre of Cape Town at the Castle of Good Hope.

She said it was to create awareness that water doesn’t come from a tap, and for it to get to our taps, water goes on a long and difficult journey, through mountains, rivers, dams, machines, pipes and so much more.

Many celebrities and media representatives took part, some only did a day or two, however, Carishma completed all four days.
