Ward 15 councillor dies suddenly
Mike Henderson was a politician who really cared about his community.
LOCAL members of the Democratic Alliance describe the sudden death of popular Hibiscus Coast Municipality Ward 12 councillor Mike Henderson as a huge loss to the community.
Mr Henderson died in hospital after a brief illness yesterday (Sunday) afternoon. He was a staunch and long-serving supporter of the DA and served the party as a ward councillor for nearly three years. A caring community worker, he ran a feeding scheme for children in Oshabeni for many years. Most of the funding for the food came from his own pocket.
“Mike always worked incredibly hard and really had the good of his community at heart. A level-headed councillor, he always considered all sides of a problem carefully before taking action. His death is a great blow to all of us,” said fellow DA councillor, Dave Watson.
