Bikers prepare for annual toy run

South Coast motorcyclists have big hearts and the support for the toy run is amazing.

AT THIS time of year, the thoughts and dreams of many children are of pretty lights, cheerful decorations, happy faces and yes, maybe a brightly wrapped gift or two. For some children, these dreams would not be realised if it were not for the many kind and generous people willing to help the less fortunate in our communities.

The motorcycle toy runs held throughout the country gather thousands of toys for distribution by charities. Hundreds of bikers meet to ride together, carrying these gifts to a designated collection point. The sight of these long processions of chrome and steel with the riders bearing gifts of every size and description brings a happy smile to many faces.

This event is organised by the Ramsgate Lions, in conjunction with a number of local biker clubs. Toys donated are distributed to needy children in the area.

Bikers will be meeting on December 1, at the Southcoast Mall at 9am for the eighth annual South Coast Toy Run. Bikers carrying gifts will leave the mall at around 9.30am on a mass ride through Margate to the Ramsgate Community Centre, where participants will donate toys and enjoy the live music and catering provided.
