Forgotten pets receive gifts

Santa Cause for Paws distributed Christmas packs to various animal shelters.

CHRISTMAS came early for abused, abandoned and neglected cats, dogs, puppies and kittens rescued and homed at Harmony Hill’s Cats Cradle and Rescue Dogs in Sea Park.

Clair Potgieter from Kloof and Kaylee Bruce from Westville, who headed the Santa Cause for Paws in Durban, dropped off boxes for 136 cats, 40 dogs, six kittens and 35 puppies at Harmony Hill last Sunday.

A surprising and delightful visit for both staff and animals at Harmony Hill. Santa Cause for Paws collected and distributed Christmas packs to numerous animal shelters around South Africa to show the less fortunate furry friends a bit of love this Christmas.

This year Durbanites generously supported the cause by donating 667 boxes towards the Santa Cause for Paws initiative.

The overwhelming donations allowed for Claire and Kaylee to drop off the ‘gifts’ at Project Dog in Durban, Harmony Hill Rescue Dogs and Cats Cradle in Sea Park, Four Paws and a Tale Rescue in Scottburgh, Phoenix Animal Care and Treatment (PACT) and Hillside Haven on the Bluff.

“We were overwhelmed by the public’s generous donations,” said Clair. Many of the donated gifts were beautifully wrapped and consisted of a food item, toy and something warm and useful for the needy animals.

Owners of Harmony Hill Animal Hotel, Renate Haussman and Penny Taylor, who have recently partnered with founders of Four Paws and Tale, Nicky and Johnny Koekemoer based in Scottburgh, were blown away by the generous donations.

Together Harmony Hill and Four Paws and a Tale Rescue they have recently erected an amazing rescue mission called Harmony Hill Rescue Dogs that is certainly worth supporting.
