Golf results on the South Coast for the past week.

Silver lining for Ken and co

THE Span Africa business day at Port Shepstone Country Club last Friday saw team Silveray clean up on 99 points, namely Ken Morris, Trevor Green, Leon Reeders and Charles Mostert.

The course held up pretty well after all the rain. Not surprisingly, Wednesday’s competition was called off.

In second place on 96 points were Ronnie Mtshaka, Sbu Ntozakhe, Koko Zithumane and Vusie Maphumulo. They counted out Pete Govender, Bobby Govender, Ganes Munsami and Sanjay Singh.

The pro shop day last Saturday was won by Fanie Kuhn and Rob Piers on 48 points, three ahead of Mark Smith and Allan Rutter.

In a tie for third on 44 points were Thys Blom and Johan du Plessis, and Lizzie Currie and Willem Lindeque.

This coming Saturday is the ‘Christmas Compo’. There is no competition fee but please bring a gift worth R30.

Sweet swinging from Sistermanns couple

NICK Sistermanns and Garth Strong carded 51 points at Southbroom Golf Club last Saturday to win the competition by two from Gordon and Glen Huddy.

There was a tie for third place on 48 points, shared by Horst Lehrer and and Wolfgang Winterscheidt, as well as Dix Vorster and Gurney Mathews.

In the women’s competition, Karin Asbock and Christa Sistermanns took first place on 46 points, counting out Heleen Hissey and Julie Walker. So it was a good day for the Sistermanns.

Third place was snapped up by Tammy Murphy and Rose Bishop, who counted out Janet Humphrey and Geraldine Treherne.

The JD Spooned Rose Bowl, which was scheduled for last Sunday, will now be played this Sunday.

Weather wins at Margate

WITH weather almost as bad as the UK, there wasn’t too much golf at Margate Country Club last week.

By Saturday, it had relented and the regular competition took place, with it being won by Mike Lee and Rob Weyer on 49 points.

In second place were Anton Kohrmann and Dean Meyer on 45 points, counting out Arthur Ehlert and George Bothma.

The jackpot was won by Gary Smith and Dereck Hirson.
