Items galore at market

The scenic drive to the gorge is well worth the effort.

BEADWORK, perfectly crafted wooden items, flea market fashions, leather belts and wallets, jewellery and all sorts of other beautiful handmade treasures were snapped up by visitors to the Oribi Arts and Crafts Market last Saturday.

There was also plenty to nibble on on sale at various stalls and if you felt like coffee or breakfast, you could move on to the Leopard Rock Restaurant, as this interesting new market is held in the restaurant’s pretty garden.

The brainchild of Sue Bruwer and Mariette Riggien, the market serves a two-fold purpose. It provides an outlet for the talented crafters in the Oribi area and from further afield. It also encourages people living or holidaying in the coastal towns to venture inland to explore the attractive Oribi area. The scenic drive alone makes a visit worthwhile, particularly if the route there includes a leisurely drive through the gorge. The bright sunshine added to everyone’s enjoyment and a sunny meander around the stalls was a real treat.

The next Oribi Market will be held at Leopard Rock on Saturday, February 1.To find out more about the market or if you would like to take a stall, contact Mariette at 083 3325057.
