NPC, a member of InterCement, showed its social commitment to the community with the Simuma plant donating a printer to South Coast Hospice for its training academy.
The academy provides training for other health care professionals, community workers, staff and volunteers. It has received accreditation from the Health and Welfare Sector Education and Training Authority (HWSETA) and has also been appointed as a centre for palliative care learning by the Hospice Palliative Care Association (HPCA).
The printer is a vital piece of equipment and members of the training team will now be able to print and collate all of their own manuals and bind them in preparation for the courses offered.
Courses include HIV counselling, introduction to palliative care, bereavement counselling and home-based care. The academy is also able to print certificates for all students when they graduate.
“We strive for professionalism and consistency. With the printer donated to us we will be able to live up to a high standard of delivery for our students who depend on quality training,” said Dirk van Reenen, training coordinator.
NPC representatives visited the team at the academy recently and handed over the HP Laserjet printer. The visitors also enjoyed a chance to sit in briefly during one of the home-based care course lectures.
