Islamic School legends make history

In total, the matric class of 2014 notched up 38 A and 29 B symbols.

DEAR Editor,-

The board of governors, director, principal, management team, staff and parents of Port Shepstone Islamic School congratulates its 2014 matriculants for their legendary achievement of having obtained a 100 percent bachelor’s degree pass in the recent National Senior Certificate examinations.

This is history in the making and must surely place the Islamic School as a top contender once again for being the leading school in the Ugu District. In 2014, the Islamic School was placed first in the category of Best Urban School in the Ugu District Mayoral Awards.

The Islamic School is a totally non-racial, value-based independent school which caters for grades one to 12 pupils in the Ugu District.

Started in 1994, this marks the 13th consecutive year in which the Islamic school has produced this hallmark 100 percent pass. School director, Dr MS Karodia, places on record his heartfelt gratitude to all the role-players who were responsible for such excellent results, especially principal Moulana Imraan Khamissa and Feisel Raiman, who heads the school’s FET section.

He singled out the grade 12 teaching staff of the Islamic school, to whom he was eternally grateful for having prepared pupils for the 2014 National Senior Certificate examinations. Both Yacoob Moosa (chairman – BOG) and Dr Ayoob Moosa Bux (chairman-Edcom), were unanimous in their praises for the 2014 matriculants and placed on record their sincere appreciation to the local community for supporting the Islamic School.

Mr Moosa and Dr Bux were proud of the school’s achievements and thanked the management staff and teachers for these noteworthy ‘milestone’ matric results.

The top matriculant for 2014 is Hafez Ridhwaan Moosa, who achieved an 89 percent aggregate pass after having obtained As for English, Afrikaans, mathematics, LO, geography and Arabic.

The other top achievers who obtained A distinction aggregates were Sahal Dawjee (three As) , Zaheera Desai (five As), Humaid Kadwa (four As), Zahra Rangila (five As) and Saaber Sheik (three As).

In total, the matric class of 2014 notched up 38 A and 29 B symbols. The Islamic School will honour its 2014 ‘legends’ at a special matric awards function on Friday, January 23.
