What exactly is 20/20 vision and what does it mean?

When last did you do something to take care of your eyes?

EVER wondered what 20/20 vision is? Maybe you thought it was the degree to which you can spot things in your blind spot?

Or perhaps something pilots have. It’s not really the case.

According to an article in Momentum Health’s Jump Magazine, written by Jenni Davies, 20/20 vision means you can see clearly what the average person can see at 20 feet (6 metres).

At that distance, your eyes are relaxed and in their normal shape – in other words, not straining.

The first number is your sight, the second number is the average.

For example, 20/30 vision means you can only see at 20 feet what others see at 30 feet (9 metres).

If this is the case, then your eyesight is weaker than most.

20/15 vision means that you see at 20 feet what others can only see at 15 feet.
