Margate Moves: Community forum calls special meeting

Take note no other matters will be included on the agenda at this special meeting.

THE Ramsgate Community Policing Forum will hold a special general meeting at the end of the month.

All Ramsgate residents are urged to attend, it takes place at the Lions’ Community Centre in Glenmarkie Road on Monday, July 30 at 6pm.

The meeting has been called in order to adopt changes to the forum’s constitution arising from the registration of the Ramsgate Urban Precinct and the election of the committee due to restructuring.

Copies of the constitution by email or in hard copy format will be made available by Quinn Meecham at ops@ramsgatecpf.co.za or from the forum’s office on request.

Take note no other matters will be included on the agenda at this special meeting.

Beautiful blooms

One of the highlights of the winter season is the annual flower show hosted by the Alfred County Orchid Society.

The place to visit this weekend is the Margate Methodist Church Hall where the exotic blooms will be on display. The expo will be held over two days – July 6 and 7 and open from 8.30am to 4.30pm on Friday and from 8.30am to 1.30pm on Saturday. Members of the society will be on hand to answer queries.

Holiday fun

Go along to the beaches where lots of fun activities have been planned.

Everyone is invited to a fun day at Sebenza Village this Saturday (7th). The village is relaunching its popular nursery with a fun-filled family day of entertainment from 10am to midday. Go along and enjoy the celebrations.

There’s a dinner/dance at the Azalea Hall – Margate Retirement Village this Saturday (7th). And that all time favourite musical movie `The King and I’ will be screened at a matinee at the Ronnie Baker Hall at the village on Sunday (22nd).

The South Coast proudly congratulates Esther Boshoff from Margate who was the overall winner of the recent Super Naweek Music & Family Festival, an Afrikaans music festival for the whole family organised by Blythedale Event Bowl.

Supper theatre is back

As the weather gets a little cooler it is time for `Christmas in July’ at Margate Retirement Village. The venue is the Azalea Hall and the date to save is July 28. Guests will be royally entertained by the talented Vicky de Villiers and Callie Thompson who will present their fabulous show `Winter Wonderland’. It’s a supper theatre production so pack a picnic and your own liquid refreshments and enjoy an evening of superb entertainment. Tickets at R70 per person are on sale from the RAC or admin offices at the village. Phone 039 3125000.

Calling golfers

Golfers are urged to support the Southbroom Conservancy’s big fund-raiser, the sponsored golf day. It will be played at Southbroom Golf Club on Saturday, July 14.

The conservancy does amazing work in looking after the town and surrounding area and needs assistance.

Support is needed

Child Welfare Margate will hold its 65th annual general meeting at Margate Methodist Church next week.

The date to diarise is Monday, July 9 at 2pm. The public is cordially invited to attend.
