Knockout places on line in Southern KZN Autumn 100
Some entertaining cricket has been played.
There’s one more round to go in the Southern KZN Autumn 100 before the final log positions are decided and teams will see who plays who in the quarter-finals.
There was some exhilarating cricket action last Sunday, none more so than in the spicy but friendly rivalry between Challengers and Mustangs, which again did not fail to disappoint in terms of entertainment value.
Mustangs were kept to 78-9 with big gun Theo Goldstone going early, caught on the boundary by Vuvu Gumede.
However, Quinton Gonzalves cobbled together some valuable late innings runs to give the bowlers something to defend.
And they nearly did, with Challengers scraping to victory with one ball to spare and two wickets in hand.
They got their by the skin of their teeth, with dentist Tahir Khan playing a calm innings to see the team home, aided by Benjamin Kunz.
At one stage Challengers were in complete control, before set batsman Marcel van Etteryk was run out by a direct hit by Ayanda Jili
The next ball, Goldstone castled the in-form André Ellapen and few balls later did the same to the other set batsman, Ayoob Ebrahim.
