Making sure that wanted persons are arrested and drinking and driving is stopped, a joint operation initiated by the Ugu Cluster was held at Port Edward last Friday.

The roadblock was well supported by officials from the Department of Home Affairs, Ray Nkonyeni Law Enforcement, Port Shepstone Saps K9, Detectives, Crime Intelligence, Vispol and Kokstad Stock Theft Unit. The operation was held on the R61 near Palm Beach.
Stop and search operations were carried out in the Munster, Tongasi and Braemer areas.
A total of 26 premises, 10 vehicles and 89 pople were searched. Eleven arrests were made of suspects wanted in cases of housebreaking, theft, robbery and possession of dagga.
“One illegal immigrant was also detained and several fines were issued by RNM law enforcement officers. One dangerous weapon and a small quantity of dagga were also recovered. The public can expect further operations to be conducted throughout the Ugu Cluster in the coming months,” said police spokesman, Captain Petros Zenzele Mpinge.
This is one of the many police initiatives that are in place to stabilise and reduce crime in the communities.
However, the Ugu Cluster commander, Major-General Sethenya Nxamagele appeals to all to get involved and support the Saps and all other law enforcement agencies in crime fighting.
She called on all to not hesitate to report criminal activities to the local police station or to the Crimestop number 08600 10111.
