Sheppie Snippets: Help the hand that feeds the hungry
It's a fun filled family day too.
Bread of Heaven, a non-profit organisation which provides sandwiches to hundreds of indigent children on a daily basis will hold its annual Bread of Heaven charity and family fun day this Saturday.
To attain its objective the organisation has to engage in a number of projects. One of the main projects is the annual fun walk/run by which Bread of Heaven raises most of the money to run the daily business of providing sandwiches.
The annual event takes place at Port Shepstone Senior Primary this Saturday, September 8. There will be a 10km and 5km fun walk/run. The 10km event starts at 7am the 5km at 7.30am. There will also be a mum’s and toddlers’ race. The public can look forward to an obstacle course, jumping castles, a photo booth and much more. Refreshments will be on sale. Cake sale
Members of the El Shaddai church will be holding a cake sale in aid of building funds. The cake sale will be held at KZN Burglar Proofing and Automation in Hill Road, Marburg from 8.30am. For further information contact Pastor Johnston at 073 3122320.
Rostrum
Tuesday Rostrum will host guest speaker Debra Bouwer at its luncheon on September 11 for a talk entitled ‘On this ice at -40ºC in search of an education’ – a tale about the Zanskari people in India.
Debra believes that learning and study are the keys to an active mind and has lectured at several universities for over 11 years.
She has a master’s degree in sociology, as well as an MBA and a master’s degree in Egyptology. One of her passions is mountain climbing and she has climbed several mountains around the world. She now runs her own adventure travel company and writes for various travel magazines. This promises to be another enthralling presentation not to be missed! Brunch
