Four primary school children were lucky to escape an attempted attack this morning (Thursday).
In an exclusive interview with the Herald, an 11-year-old girl explained what happened while they were on their way to Jai Hind Primary this morning.
A grade 6 pupil, her 9-year-old brother and two friends – sisters aged 8 and 9 – were walking along Swallow Drive in Albersville when they saw two men. As the pupils approached the school, the men produced knives.

“They tried to attack us but they noticed that the road was busy with cars and walked away. We managed to run to school and reported the incident to the teachers,” said the traumatised girl.
Police spokesman, Captain Petros Zenzele Mpinge confirmed the incident. “The children were dropped off behind the school at about 7.30am by their parents. They were approached by two men dressed in overalls. When the men produced knives, the children screamed and ran towards the school. The suspects fled onto the freeway. No harm was caused to the children but they were left very shaken. The parents were interviewed by the police but no case was opened.”

As a result, he drove off and no harm was came to the pupil. No case was opened.”
Despite rumours circulating wildly on social media, police have strongly denied reports that children from Jai Hind and Marburg Primary had been abducted. Marburg Primary issued the following response:

Police advised parents not to drop off their children far from school premises.
