JUST IN: Bus overturns in Izingolweni – 37 injured

Three separate bus accidents have been reported in the province today.

Rescue workers and police are at the scene of an accident were a bus overturned at Dumezulu, near KwaXolo, Port Edward earlier today (Monday).

According to paramedic Glen Preston from Med-Evac, 37 people have been injured.

“Paramedics are on scene and some patients have already been airlifted to surrounding hospitals for treatment,” said Mr Preston.

Margate police will investigate the course of the accident.

According to KwaZulu-Natal Emergency Services spokesman, Robert McKenzie there are reports of two other bus accidents in the province. “On the N2 at Candova (northern KZN) there’s been a collision involving a bus and a truck in which 44 people have have been injured and one person has died.” said Mr McKenzie.

Another bus accident occurred near Staram in Tongaat has left 11 injured.
