93 arrested for drunk driving

Roadblocks will continue to be held along the South Coast.

The many pre-season safety messages and awareness drives warning motorists not to drink and drive appear to have gone largely unheeded.

In the Ray Nkonyeni municipal area alone, 93 people were charged for drunken driving between December 1 and 30.

“Roadblocks will continue to be held in order to keep the public safe during and after the festive season. Those who plan to drink must get a designated, licensed sober driver to drive them. Offenders will not escape the legal consequences of driving under the influence when they are apprehended,” said Ugu Cluster commander Major General Sethenya Nxamagele.
