#Matric2018: Stellar performance from Creston students

The school recorded a 100 percent pass rate, with 97 percent of pupils qualifying for university entrance.

Creston College’s students studied diligently and achieved a 100 percent pass rate in this year’s IEB examinations.

Ninety-seven percent of the pupils qualified for university entrance – an outstanding achievement – while 37 pupils achieved 59 subject distinctions and the majority achieved a minimum of 60 percent in the chosen subjects.

Top achievers who obtained seven distinctions each are Sian Koekhoven and Zanele Nxamagele, while Zeenat Moosa received five distinctions and was placed in the top one percent for life orientation.

Sian also received the school’s dux award, academic honours, academic commendation awards and was regularly placed top in the academic top ten of her grade. She was the first to receive the honours with tie award which is presented to a Grade 12 pupil who has achieved an overall average of 90 percent.   She was accepted to Wits Medical School.

Happy with their results are Likamva Mbopha and Lily van der Merwe.

Zanele maintained an exceptional academic standard, being awarded academic honours, academic commendation awards and a regularly placing top in the academic top ten of her grade this year.   She has been accepted to both Wits Medical School and the UCT Medical School.

Zeenat is a conscientious student with a strong work ethic and was awarded academic honours, an academic commendation, and was regularly placed top in the academic top ten of her grade.

Other top achievers include head boy Kennedy Wood and Jenna Unsworth who achieved four distinctions and Siphe Booi, Sky Bothma and Lily van der Merwe obtained three distinctions each.

The executive head, Noel Coetzee; the deputy head, Rob Wyatt-Minter; the director of studies, Dr. Susi Coser; the board of governors and the staff wish every pupil well in their future endeavours.
