#Matric2018: Distinctions galore at PS Secondary

The school achieved a 91,8 percent pass rate, including a commendable 136 distinctions.

Beaming smiles and congratulatory messages greeted Port Shepstone Secondary’s Class of 2018 last Friday when the matric results were released.

Once again pupils produce exceptional results, achieving a 91,8 percent pass rate. Principal Genganathan Odayar complimented the pupils, staff and the school governing body, who invested all their efforts into maintaining academic excellence at the school.

“We have achieved distinctions galore, an enviable 136 in total, which against the backdrop of the challenging CAPS curriculum, is highly commendable,” he said.

Seven of the school’s pupils notched up A aggregates, despite some very difficult question papers in several subjects. Scooping the first position is Tineal Govender with 7 As and a phenomenal 93 percent aggregate.

Akira Manawer notched up an impressive six A symbols.

Ntombizekhethelo Mbumbe took the second position with 7As and an impressive 91 percent aggregate. Both pupils were placed in the top five in Ugu District.

Other top candidates were Umar Desai (six As, one B and an aggregate of 85 percent), Kiara Ramdhaw (five As, two Bs and an aggregate of 84 percent), Akshay Singh (five As, two Bs and an aggregate of 83 percent), Judhia Raguber (five As, two Bs and an aggregate of 82 percent), and Akira Manawer (six As, one B and an 81 percent aggregate).
