Good Friday visit from President Ramaphosa for South Coast
It was President Cyril Ramaphosa's second visit to the South Coast in the past six months.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has pleaded with parents not to allow their children to drop out of school as he believed an educated nation would take the country to a better place.
Mr Ramaphosa was addressing scores of Faith Mission congregants in Gamalakhe around 5pm today (Good Friday).
According to Mr Ramaphosa parents needed to ensure that their children did not drop out as the current government was trying by all means necessary to meet them halfway.
“We have ‘no fee paying’ schools, our children are also getting food at school and bursaries at tertiary institutions, so there is no reason why they should drop out.”
According to the President the number of school dropouts in the country was quite alarming, however he said parents could still play a huge role in curbing this trend.
Mr Ramaphosa also promised the church members that the government will continue to work hard and requested them to pray for the government.
Earlier in the day he had visited the Methodist church in KwaNzimakwe and later addressed business stakeholders, Amakhosi and people from other professions at St Michael Sands Hotel.
