Still no repairs to Rocklyn Drive

Sections of the road have subsided and slipped into a residential property, causing a lot of damage.

ROCKLYN Drive near School Circle in Park Rynie has been collapsing since April last year.

Sections of the road have subsided and slipped into a residential property, causing a lot of damage.

The fence has collapsed and this raises security concerns for the resident who also has three dogs which can now easily escape the yard.

“My dogs are vicious and I have to constantly worry about whether they’re in the yard or not. What will I do if they hurt someone or another dog? Or if they are struck by a passing vehicle?”

Her water meter was also damaged when the road collapsed and no longer functions as it should.

Water has now run unchecked for months.

“There are people who struggle with water shortages yet I have water being wasted on my property,” she said, adding that since the road began collapsing very little has been done address the problem.

“Municipal workers cleared a pile of sand which had washed onto the property, but it wasn’t removed completely – it was left near the entrance to the property.

“People have come out to assess the road as promised, but that was it. There has been no real action since.”

Umdoni Municipality was contacted for comment but none had been received at the time of going to press.
