Umkomaas police officer promoted to colonel

Colonel Mthembeni Daniel Zungu is wished well in his new post.

Umkomaas Saps and the local community congratulate Lieutenant Colonel Mthembeni Daniel Zungu on his promotion to colonel.

He will take on his new role as Visible Policing (Vispol) commander at Verulam Saps.

Zungu previously served as Vispol Commander and acting station commander at Umkomaas police station.

As an operational leader, he established himself as a highly disciplined no-nonsense officer. Over the years, he efficiently managed station operational plans and was responsible for the Community Service Centre, crime prevention units, social crime prevention officials, and Firearms, Liquor and Second-Hand Goods Control.

“I am deeply humbled and overwhelmed to be promoted,” he said.

“It is undoubtedly a bittersweet moment for me as Umkomaas is my community, and leaving the people I have served so closely is tough, even as I look forward to this new chapter.”

Zungu also worked closely with the local community policing forum and youth desk.

He is wished well in his new post by community leaders, colleagues, and management.
