Umdoni Mayor, Thabani Dube, addressed pupils and parents at the Umzinto Town Hall last week.

“This programme is to ensure that no child is kept away from school and no child is made to feel different or inferior due to their unfortunate circumstances,” he said.

Uniforms were presented to pupils by Umdoni Municipality officials last week.

“It is imperative that education is given major attention as it is the foundation of developed communities.

“Teachers who do their best even under trying conditions to ensure children remain in school and make something of themselves are to be commended.”

Since the inception of the Mayoral Dress A Child Campaign, thousands of pupils have benefited.

Parents and pupils gather at the Umzinto Town Hall for the hand-over of the uniforms.

“The municipality will continue to ensure that previously disadvantaged pupils continue to receive assistance from their government,” added Umdoni Municipality communications manager, Sphelele Cele.
