According to Margate police spokesman, Sergeant Sibu Ncane, Ngxabi was re-arrested on Thursday last week after detectives followed up on information received.

“Detective Constables Ndumiso Nzimakwe and Sandile Xolo as well as Detective Sergeant Sibonelo Mlambo travelled to Kokstad where the escaped prisoner was re-arrested.”

He was detained at SAPS Margate where he was charged with escaping from lawful custody in addition to the previous charges of housebreaking and theft.

He appeared in the Ramsgate Magistrates court on Monday this week and the case was remanded to March 17.

Bail was not granted.

Margate station commander, Brigadier William Slabbert was relieved that the prisoner was re-arrested and commended the members for persevering in their hunt to find him.
