Pensioner murdered near Mthwalume
A suspect has appeared in court, where the case was postponed for further investigation.

A 53-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a 71-year-old woman from KwaNdelu near Mthwalume.
Ntombi Ngwazi was found with multiple stab wounds to the head and body at her house last Saturday.

It is believed she lived alone although her partner visited from time to time.
“We were shocked to hear that someone would brutally murder a helpless woman who was very kind to everyone,” said one family member.
Another relative said that Ms Ngwazi was a pensioner and did not deserve to die such a horrific death.
Ms Ngwazi had reportedly tried to end her relationship with her partner, who apparently did not take the news well.
Police spokesman Captain Petros Mpinge said a murder case was being investigated.
“A suspect was arrested and appeared in the Umzumbe Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday this week The case was postponed to March 18 pending further investigation.”
According to Captain Mpinge, the suspect remains in police custody.
