Woman arrested for selling fake sanitisers

The community is warned to be careful of people who might prey on their vulnerability during this time.

A  29-year-woman who was selling fake sanitisers was arrested by Margate detectives this week.

Police spokesman, Sergeant Sibu Ncane said Margate detectives were following up on information regarding the theft of a motor vehicle when their investigations led them to a residence at George Miller Street at Extension 2 in Margate.

The woman was arrested and charged with theft of motor vehicle and fraud.

A white VW Polo was found in her possession.

The vehicle and 102 x 5 litres of fake sanitiser were confiscated.

“One customer was taken for questioning and released on the same day,” said Sgt Ncane.

Margate station commander Brigadier William Slabbert applauded the members for the swift arrest.

He warned the community to be careful of people who might prey on their vulnerability during this time.
