Caylan’s sudden death has shocked the South Coast community.
He was greatly loved and a true son of the sea as surfing, fishing and time on the beach were the places the young man with the shock of blond hair loved most.
Caylan is the son of Mark and Linde Snyman, and brother of twin sisters Skyla and Jade.
He’s the grandson of Jean Snyman, a long-time South Coast resident, and nephew to Craig, who is in Australia.
He attended Southcity Christian School and worked for Investec as a digital marketing strategist before joining his father in his businesses on the coast.
Ant Brodowicz, a well-known surfer and long-time South Coaster, said on his Surf Action Facebook page that Caylan’s exuberant smile and infectious zest for life will be missed by all that knew him.
“Our lives have been greatly blessed by Caylan. He will be sorely missed by one and all, the surfing fraternity conveys its deepest sympathies and condolences to the Snyman family.”
He urged the community to respect the family’s privacy at this time.

Brodowicz also shared a scripture:
Matthew 5 vs 4: ‘Blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted’.
“May God guide the Snyman family through this most difficult chapter of their lives. Caylan will live forever in our memories and our hearts and is safely home, at peace with our Lord Jesus. Rest in peace young man. We are going to miss you until we meet again,” he said.
