RNM spokesman Simon April said preparations to re-open were underway and the appropriate Covid-19 safety measures were being put in place.

Managers, street cleaning employees and some treasury staff had, he said, already returned to work.

The following personnel will be back at work during level 3:

Public Safety –  in addition to fire and rescue and law enforcement, all license section employees;

Community Services – all street cleaning and verge maintenance employees;

Technical Services – all pothole repair and storm water maintenance employees;

Treasury – in addition to those who have been at work, revenue employees including cashiers, and other selected treasury employees;

Management – all management will continue to be at work;

Leadership – all council leadership, including councillors will continue with their responsibilities.

“Other employees, including those aged 60 years and above and those with co-morbidities will be working from home as per Department of Health guidelines,” said Mr April.

He added that employees would be screened daily, would have proper protective clothing and would be wearing masks at all times.

“As we welcome other employees back we would like to salute all our essential employees and managers who have been hard at work ever since the lockdown started.”
