It is believed that on the day his remains were due to arrive at his home for burial, community members protested, threatening to burn his body, should it arrive.

The bodies of five women have been found in a sugar cane field in the area.
Khomo’s family, from Dingimzimba area in Mthwalume is now struggling to find a place to bury him after they were forced to abandon their homestead.
It is believed that on the day his remains were due to arrive at his home for burial, community members protested, threatening to burn his body, should it arrive.
They said they did not want him to be buried in the area as he had committed heinous crimes.
A decision was then taken to expel the family from the community.
The Khomo family had also reportedly been asked to leave previous residences in the Mzumbe area after Mafutha’s troublesome behaviour.
According to Mafutha’s brother Sandile Khomo, he and his family were in hiding.
“We understand that the community is very upset over what my brother did.
“My mother has been trying to find a place to bury him but all our relatives have ignored her pleas.”
He said the family was now considering cremation.
