Marsec to launch R1.2-m technological academy this weekend
The aim of the project is to reduce unemployment in the Ugu district by providing the community with the digital skills required for the jobs of the future as the world moves rapidly towards the 4th Industrial Revolution.
The Marburg Secondary School Cisco Networking Academy will celebrate its ‘virtual’ launch via Facebook and other social media platforms this Saturday (26th) from 10am.
In keeping with Covid-19 safety protocols, a handful of high-ranking provincial government and local education district officials have been invited to attend the launch on-site.

The R1.2-million project is the brainchild of former Marsec pupils currently working in the technology field.
The aim of the project is to reduce unemployment in the Ugu district by providing the community with the digital skills required for the jobs of the future as the world moves rapidly towards the 4th Industrial Revolution.
They have used their corporate and business sector influence to source sponsorships and donations, resulting in the academy boasting state-of-art computers and media equipment.
To ensure that everything will be ready for next week’s launch, several energetic, passionate and responsible youth volunteered their time, services and technical expertise to conduct on-site operations, technical maintenance, marketing and communications.
Marburg Secondary’s acting principal, Madhan Seevnarain, said: “Cisco is a well-established global technology giant and provides access to innovative industry solutions and skills.
“Through the academy, our community will now have access to various Cisco certifications, which will be acquired through physical and online platforms.”
