Enviro talk by Pumula dive expert

Valda Fraser is a keen diver and underwater photographer.

Bendigo Conservation Group will hold an illustrated presentation ‘Community scientists expanding the boundaries of knowledge’ by Valda Fraser at Marlon Caravan Park in Sunwich Port tomorrow,  Sunday, November 1 at 2pm.

Donations towards Bendigo Conservation Group are welcome.

Valda, from Pumula, is a keen diver and underwater photographer. Together with her husband Mike, they have been diving since 1988.

Most of their diving takes place close to home but sometimes they venture further afield – to the north coast and Mozambique or south to the Eastern Cape.

Valda has been sharing images and linking data with a number of scientists worldwide.

She has also published books and articles and in so doing made a contribution to science relating to a range of marine animals.

Although she feels she is an ‘ordinary person’ with the help of modern technology and social media she has made a valuable contribution to science.

Valda will also be talking about the recent discovery of a coelacanth by her husband Mike, son Alan and friends from the Cape.

Bring and braai afterwards.
