Orchid and exotic plant fair coming up
Visitors and plant enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice with a large variety of orchids such as heliconia and bromeliad, as well as other unusual types of plants including carnivorous plants on display.
The South Coast Collectors’ Plant Fair of Exotic and Orchid Plants, a big event on the gardening calendar takes place at Stephward Estate Country House in Uvongo on November 6 and 7.
Between 700 and 900 people are expected to attend the event including vendors who are private growers, and importers from Cape Town, Pretoria, Brits, Richards Bay and further afield.
Visitors and plant enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice with a large variety of orchids such as heliconia and bromeliad, as well as other unusual types of plants including carnivorous plants on display.
The event is expected to boost the tourism sector with visitors booking at local accommodation establishments and also spending money in the area.
Entrance fee is R15. Children under 10 enter free of charge.
