Police spokesman Sergeant Sibu Ncane said the woman was in the kitchen when she noticed the back door was not locked.

She went to close it and activate the alarm.

When she reached the  door she was confronted by the teen.

He ordered her not to scream and demanded cash. Threatened with violence, the woman handed over R500.

“He also took a backpack and a cellphone, as well as the house keys before locking the woman inside the house,” said Sgt Ncane.

She was however saved by the arrival of her husband.

Margate police are investigating a case of house robbery and no arrests have been made yet.
