Ramsgate by-election results expected today

According to the Chief Electoral Officer, Sy Mamabolo, the by-elections are the first to be held since election activities were suspended in March this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

By-elections were held in Ward 2 Ramsgate yesterday (Wednesday).

The election was to fill the vacancy which arose when Dave Watson resigned in February.

Siyasanga Nkonya (EFF), Rochelle Robbetze (VF Plus), Alan Bosch (DA), Shaune McAuliff (IFP) and Lwazi Khohli (ANC) contested the by-elections.

According to the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC), the results are expected to be announced by midday today (Thursday, November 12).

According to the Chief Electoral Officer, Sy Mamabolo, the by-elections are the first to be held since election activities were suspended in March this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic and are a “catch-up” of all by-elections postponed between March and September.

Some 609 133 voters had registered on the certified voters’ rolls for the various by-elections.
