Lengthy sentence for 3 Port Edward robbers

They took the couple's car keys, but while they were trying to start the vehicle, the alarm went off and they fled.

Port Shepstone Regional Court sentenced three men, Ntokozo Ndovela (33), Nhanhla Ngcobo (30) and Bhekani Ngeleka (38) to 20 years’ imprisonment for attempted theft of motor vehicle and eight years for house robbery.

Detective Warrant Officer Jabulane ‘Diba’ Nzimakwe has been investigating the case since March 22, 2019 when Port Edward police responded to a house robbery in Nicholls Road, Port Edward.

The men forced open a sliding door to gain entry to the house, where they demanded firearms and cell phones.

They took the couple’s car keys, but while they were trying to start the vehicle, the alarm went off and they fled.

An intensive investigation by Port Edward detectives led to the arrest of the men on the same day and the property was recovered at Breamer location.

Port Edward Station Commander, Lieutenant-Colonel Phindile Mabaso praised police members for the good work.
