One dead in three-truck crash between Southport and Hibberdene

The cause of the collision is not known but authorities are investigating.

One person died in a collision involving three trucks on the N2 between Southport and Hibberdene last night (27th).

Kwazulu Private Ambulance Service medics were among the emergency services which responded to the incident.

“The person sustained fatal injuries and had succumbed to them before the emergency services arrived,”said spokesman Craig Botha.

“Paramedics quickly assessed the scene and found that in addition to the dead person, two other occupants had sustained serious injuries, one of whom was trapped in the truck. A third occupant sustained minor injuries.”

Together with fire and rescue services, paramedics stabilised and then extricated the trapped patient using specialised rescue equipment.

The other patients were transported to hospital for further treatment.
