Splash of colour comes to Art-in-the-Park in Uvongo
Discover some wonderful artistic talent.
The South Coast is bursting with artistic talent, and on October 3, more than 50 enthusiastic artists will bring their paintings to the open air at Art-in-the-Park, Uvongo, from 09:00 to 13:00.
The park, along Marine Drive between the Uvongo River bridge and the central Uvongo traffic lights, will once again become a lively meeting place for artists, art lovers and curious visitors.
According to convenor Johann du Toit, the event has grown considerably in popularity since it was launched in February this year.
“We have found that visitors really enjoy the informal character of an art exhibition in the open air,” says Johann. “Some arrive with a picnic blanket and something to eat, while others bring their pets along on a leash for a morning outing while browsing the artworks.”
Holidaymakers visiting the South Coast are especially invited to come along and experience this unique local art event.
One of the special attractions of Art-in-the-Park is that the artists themselves are present throughout the exhibition.

Visitors, therefore, have the opportunity to chat directly to the artists, find out more about their inspiration and techniques, and discover which mediums they prefer.
These personal conversations sometimes lead to something even more special – visitors commissioning an artist to create a painting specifically for their home.
And because the paintings are offered directly by the artists, buyers can often find original artworks at very reasonable prices compared with gallery prices.
The artists are already hard at work preparing for the November exhibition, when birds will take centre stage.
These themed exhibitions have proved particularly popular with the public, adding an element of fun and participation to the event.
Visitors are invited to vote for their favourite themed fine-art painting on display.
There is no entrance fee for visitors, and artists exhibit free of charge.
Artists interested in participating, or anyone wanting more information, can contact Johann on WhatsApp 072-603-7517.
