Umdoni elects new leaders

Councillor Sibongile Khathi, who has been the municipality's deputy mayor, was elected as mayor and Councillor Siyabonga Khwela was elected as deputy mayor.

Umdoni Municipality inaugurated its new mayor and deputy mayor at a special council meeting held at the Scottburgh Town Hall last week.

Councillor Sibongile Khathi, who has been the municipality’s deputy mayor, was elected as mayor and Councillor Siyabonga Khwela was elected as deputy mayor.

Councillor Sibongile Khathi (left) was inaugurated as Umdoni’s new mayor by Magistrate Prem Singh.

The inauguration was done by Magistrate Prem Singh who also performed the swearing in ceremony for a new IFP Proportional Representation Councillor, Muhle Ngubo.
